What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to improve performance, and to provide information to website owners. Similar technologies — such as pixels and local storage — work in a comparable way.
Cookies we use
We only set non-essential cookies after you have accepted via the cookie banner. The table below lists every cookie this site uses.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| tt_consent | Trips Together | Stores your cookie preference so we don't ask again | 1 year |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Counts visits and page views to help us understand how people use the site | Up to 2 years |
| _fbp | Meta (Facebook) | Identifies browsers for advertising and analytics purposes | 90 days |
| _fbc | Meta (Facebook) | Stores click attribution when you arrive from a Meta ad | 90 days |
| ph_* | PostHog | Session analytics on QR landing pages only — helps us understand the path from a QR scan to an app download | 1 year |
Strictly necessary cookies
The tt_consent cookie is strictly necessary to remember your cookie choice. It does not track you and does not require consent.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use this site in aggregate — which pages are most visited, where traffic comes from, and how long people stay. We operate Google Analytics in Consent Mode v2, which means no cookies are set and no user-level data is collected until you accept. Even if you decline, Google may use modelled conversions for aggregate reporting.
Marketing cookies
We use the Meta Pixel to understand whether people who visit this site later download our app. This allows us to show relevant ads on Meta platforms (Facebook, Instagram) to people who have shown interest in Trips Together. No Meta cookies are set unless you accept.
How to manage or withdraw consent
You can change your cookie preference at any time by clearing your browser cookies and reloading this page — the consent banner will reappear. You can also opt out of specific providers directly:
- Google Analytics — Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
- Meta — Meta Cookie Policy
- All cookies — use your browser's built-in cookie controls (Settings → Privacy → Cookies)
